Latest data shows where the most and least expensive homes were sold in Birmingham, as well as across England and Wales as a whole.

It shows just how much – and how little – buyers were prepared to pay to get the place they wanted.

According to the Land Registry, 29,152 residential sales were registered in August 2019.

Across England and Wales, there were 743 sales where properties went for £1million or more, compared with 686 sales registered in July.

The most expensive property sold was a flat in Westminster that went for £16.5m, while the cheapest property sold was also a flat, but this time in Sunderland, which was snapped up for a mere £18,500.
